Phrader Bank Manual
Power Requirements:
+/-12v
+5v
Usage:
- Each channel on the Phrader Bank is completely independent. For some users it can be helpful to think of each channel as a separate module installed in their system.
Default:
- Upon power up all channels on the Phrader Bank will be in their default state. You may think of this as a normal fader bank. Each output’s voltage is between -5 and 5 volts relative to the fader position.
- An easy way to determine a given channel’s state is to look at its LED. Green or red correlates to a positive or negative voltage in the default state.
- Toggling between bi and uni-polar output modes is accomplished simply by pressing and releaseing the button corresponding to the channel you would like to change
- Unipolar mode ouputs from 0 -> 5 volts. This is reflected visually by the LED now only being green.
Recording:
- Press and hold down one of the buttons, notice how the corresponding LED begins blinking red. This indicates the channel has started recording.
- With the button depressed, move the fader. When you are satisfied with your movements release the button.
Playback:
- The chosen channel will immediately begin repeating your recorded phrase indefinitely.
- Note the blue hue from the LED. This is to inform you the channel is in the playback state.
Manipulating Playback:
- Directly after recording the fader is disabled and the recorded loop cannot be adjusted.
- Tapping the button will bring you into one of various loop manipulation modes
- Tapping again will bring you back to the disabled fader
- Pressing and holding the button will allow you to select which manipulation mode you will tap into.
Tutorial:
- Record a phrase
- Give the button a tap. Now the fader has become an inverting attenuator. This is indicated with the LED occasionally blinking red.
- Push the fader all the way up. Your recording is unaffected.
- If the fader is above halfway and below the top, your recording is attenuated.
- Push the fader all the way down. Your recording is the inverse of itself.
- If the fader is below halfway and above the bottom, your inverted recording is attenuated.
- Now, tap the button again. The attenuation amount is “locked” into place.
- Press and hold the button and move the fader up to the top. Notice how the LED is solid green
- While continuing to hold, gradually move the fader down. The LED will turn off, and then later become red. Further down still the LED will become blue.
- These are the different manipulation modes you can enter.
- Green: Offset adjustment
- Red: Attenuation adjustment
- Blue: Speed adjustment
- By releasing the button while one of these colors is illuminated you confirm your new mode.
- You may now tap into the mode.
- All of these modes operate under the same princapal, the led will blink to keep you aware that you are making adjustments to your loop.
- Speed can only be adjusted from x1 to x2 or x1/2
- This is expressed visually with a slow, medium or fast blinking blue LED while adjusting.
- Finally, quickly tap the button twice. Notice the LED returns back to the default state. Your recording is cleared.
